Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Bharti Praveen Pawar told the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday that till March 21 this year, a total of 1317 cases of H3N2 virus have been reported.

Pawar told the Rajya Sabha in a written reply to a question that as per the information received from the states and union territories, a total of 1317 cases of H3N2 virus have been reported from January 1, 2023 to March 21, 2023.

He said that according to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 510 cases of H3N2 have been reported from ‘ILI/SARI’ surveillance in the last two months, out of which 19 patients were admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). needed to go.

Pawar said that the Union health ministry is monitoring the situation and the ministry has taken various steps to assist states to manage cases of influenza, including H3N2.

He said that the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has issued an advisory in which all the states have been requested to take necessary steps including various measures.

He said that they have been asked to closely monitor the trend of Influenza Like Illness (ILI) and Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) in the concerned areas and refer adequate number of samples for testing for Influenza, SARS-CoV etc.
