Blood bag delivery through drone for the first time in the country, technology developed by ICMR

New Delhi, May 10 (Hindustan Times). For the first time in India, blood bag ie blood bag has been delivered through drone. On Wednesday, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) successfully trialled blood bag delivery by drone under the iDrone initiative. Collaborative efforts of ICMR, Lady Hardinge Medical College, Government Institute of Medical Sciences, Greater Noida and Jaypee Institute of Information Technology have led to a historic successful trial run for the first time in the country. The drone flew about 35 km from Jaypee Institute of Information Technology and was brought back to the campus safely.

Director General of the Indian Council of Medical Research, Dr. Rajeev Behl told that this Eye Drone was first used by ICMR to distribute vaccines in far flung areas during the Corona pandemic. It is now transporting blood and blood-related products, which must be kept at low temperatures. He explained that the blood bags transported by iDrone could not only maintain the temperature, but also there was no damage to these products. He told that there is no difference between the sample sent through ambulance and the sample sent through drone, then this drone will be used all over India.
