BNP demands release of all militants from Bangladesh prisons

Leaders of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) have demanded immediate release of militants from prisons saying all of them are “Islamic scholars” and “religious and spiritual leaders”.

Commenting on ongoing drives against Jamaat Ul Ansar Fil Hind Al Sharqiya (JAFHS) in country’s Chittagong Hill Tract areas, Secretary General of BNP, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, “This is staged drama of Awami League”. He said, there is no militancy in Bangladesh.

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir demanded immediate release of militants by branding them as “Islamic scholars” and “religious and spiritual leaders”.

Some front-ranking leaders of BNP even went further saying, Western countries, including the United States is also convinced that there is no militancy outfit or militants in Bangladesh.

Bangladesh Nationalist Party, which was behind formation of Jamaatul Mujahedin Bangladesh (JMB) and other militancy outfits in the country, including pro-Caliphate Hefazat-e-Islami (HeI) considers Islamists, jihadists, religious bigots and violent extremists as their “natural allies”.

A source told this correspondent that top leaders of BNP, including Tarique Rahman are maintaining regular contacts with Hefazat-e-Islami, Jamaatul Mujahedin Bangladesh, Hizbut Tahrir and other militancy outfits and are giving them assurance of inducting members of these groups in the next government once BNP wins the next general elections, which it wants to be held under direct supervision of the United States.

Meanwhile, Anita Mathur, our special contributor in Washington DC said, Bangladesh Nationalist Party is sending signals to its supporters in the US to cast their votes in favor of Democratic Party candidates as BNP considers Republicans as “fascists” and “enemies of Islam”.

Tarique Rahman, BNP’s second-in-command and a convicted fugitive in his message to BNP leaders and activists in the United States has asked to “work for Democratic Party candidates and play effective role in stopping Republicans from gaining majority in the Congress and Senate during November 8, midterm elections”.

Meanwhile, Giasuddin Al Mamun, a friend and partner in all types of crimes of Tarqiue Rahman reportedly is telling everyone from jail that President Joe Biden and key members of his administration have assured BNP of helping them in returning to power soon. It may be mentioned here that, Mamun is maintaining liaison with leaders of various militancy groups in prisons and also helping them with fund on a monthly basis.

Our US special contributor Anita Mathur further said, recently Dubai-based company named ‘ARY Gold’ has allocated at least US$50 million fund for anti-government movement of Bangladesh Nationalist Party at the personal request from the family members of war criminal Salauddin Quader Chowdhury.

Mathur said, Salauddin Quader Chowdhury and few other war criminals are having shares in ARY Gold’s businesses. ARY Gold is believed to be a business venture run by Pakistani spy agency Inter-Service Intelligence.

Another source said, at least 30 pro-BNP businessmen have also pledged to provide US$10 each in BNP’s fund both for anti-government movement and the next general election. It said, Tarique Rahman is seeking additional fund from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as well as few other wealthy individuals in the Middle East.
