Jamaat-e-Islami inclined self-exiled leader of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), with a record of ties with Islamist groups as well as jihadist outfits is all set of launching a Bangla newspaper from Britain with the financial support of Jamaat-e-Islami, Pakistani spy agency Inter Service Intelligence (ISI) and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Justice and Development Party.

According to credible sources in Britain, BNP leader Mahmudur Rahman, who currently is in Turkey with permanent residency is making necessary preparations for launching a daily newspaper in Bangla named ‘Amar Desh’ (my country), with both print and online edition. A former additional attorney general of Britain is working on the matter of letting Mahmudur get the permission for this newspaper. In the United Kingdom, an influential leader of Jamaat-e-Islami is coordinating the project while a Bangladeshi journalist named Waliullah Nooman, who went to Britain a few years ago is organizing things on behalf of Mahmudur Rahman.

It is also learned that an Ekushey-award-winning poet and journalist in Bangladesh, who had earlier held a top position in the cultural front of BNP is organizing reporters, writers, and columnists for Amar Desh.

Jamaat-e-Islami and Recep Tayyip Erdogan are going to jointly finance this project.

Sources said, Mahmudur Rahman, is dreaming of grabbing power in Bangladesh through an Islamist revolution with the help of Pakistani ISI, several jihadist and radical Islamic groups as well as the Turkish ruling elites. With the ulterior agenda, Mahmudur has been continuing propaganda on social media for the past few years.

Mahmudur Rahman was born in Comilla, Bangladesh, his mother is Mahmuda Begum (his father name is unknown, as Mahmudur never has mentioned that name). He received his Bachelor of Chemical Engineering in 1977 from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology. After working in engineering in Japan, he returned to earn a graduate diploma in Ceramic Engineering. He also earned a Masters in Business Administration from the Institute of Business Administration, Dhaka University.

He married Firoza Khan, the daughter of Harunur Rashid Khan Monno. The latter has been politically affiliated with the BNP since its founding in 1977.

In 2008, Mahmudur Rahman bought the ownership of the Bengali-language, daily newspaper Amar Desh, and was appointed acting editor. He has made it a mouthpiece of radical Islam and jihad. This newspaper was also accused of inciting communal violence. Mahmudur Rahman is a defender of radical Islam and jihad and has been supportive of Al Qaeda, Islamic State and Hamas. He also is infamous for spreading venom against Hindus and religious minorities in Bangladesh.

On 28 December 2008, the day before national elections, an Awami League committee chairman accused Rahman of collaborating to print fake ballot papers with his presses in order for BNP supporters to rig the election.
