Diehard propagandist and liaison person of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Mushfiqul Fazal Ansarey, who succeeded in getting White House press accreditation by falsely claiming as the “US Correspondent” of an website named “Just News” in a Facebook post on December 5, 2022 said: “Regarding sanction” Wait & See!”, confirming that the US Department of Treasury is going to impose sanctions on the members of Bangladesh Armed Forces and Bangladesh Police on December 10. Meanwhile, Mushfiqul Fazal Ansarey has been telling leaders of BNP including its acting chairman Tarique Rahman that he has talked to “several key officials” of the US Department of Treasury and US State Department who have confirmed that the December 10 sanctions on Bangladesh “is confirmed”.

Meanwhile, a highly-placed source told Anita Mathur, Special Contributor to Blitz in Washington DC, that pro-BNP individuals in the US are openly proclaiming that the party has already hired Hunter Biden as its lobbyist, who also has told them that his father, Joe Biden is “in touch” with the US officials about the December 10 sanctions.

Who is Mushfiqul Fazal Ansarey?

It may be mentioned here that, Mushfiqul Fazal Ansarey is the editor of “Just News BD” while this news website does not have any office or existence in Bangladesh. It is a matter of great surprise as to how he has managed to enroll himself as the White House Correspondent of this illegitimate website.

The website of another organization named ‘Right To Freedom’ that Mushfiqul Fazal Ansarey claims to be its “Executive Director” is non-functional. It is learnt from credible source that Mushfiqul Fazal Ansarey has been continuing anti-Bangladesh activities under direct patronization of William B Milam, a retired US diplomat and senior official, while Milam is on permanent payroll of Bangladesh Nationalist Party and Jamaat-e-Islami.

Anita Mathur, our Special Contributor in Washington DC, quoting an unnamed source in the US Capitol said, although William B Milam has made repeated attempts of handing over the dossier to the US Secretary of State, he did not get an appointment due to pre-occupations of Mr. Blinken.

Anita Mathur further said, the dossier contains names of 279 officers of Bangladesh Police, who are accused for “violation of human rights”. Bangladesh Nationalist Party and its ally Jamaat-e-Islami had previously made frantic attempts with the US Department of State and United Nations to impose sanctions several officers of Bangladesh Police. The BNP-Jamaat nexus has also been trying to get Bangladesh banned from participating in the UN Peace Keeping Force (UNPKF).

An under-cover jihadist operative

Mushfiqul Fazal Ansarey is under monthly payroll of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and several family members of war criminals. According to a credible source, Ansarey spends thousands of dollars every week in socializing with key individuals in the US, while he also is seen having lunch and dinner with those individuals, where most of the times he is accompanied by William B Milam.

It may be mentioned here that, on October 27, 2020, at the persuasions of William B Milam and Mushfiqul Fazal Ansarey, ten US Senators sent a letter to then Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Secretary of Treasury Steven Mnuchin calling for sanctions against RAB officials. In the United Kingdom, the Guernica 37 Chambers law offices made a formal submission to the British Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office in August 2021 recommending sanctions for 15 current and former senior RAB officers.

On August 31, 2021, the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission held a virtual hearing on enforced disappearances in Bangladesh where several witnesses suggested taking punitive action. Bangladesh Foreign Ministry was not appraised of the case of letters sent by the US Senators, as it was later alleged that the Bangladesh High Commissioner is Washington DC was actually a former leader of BNP’s student wing.

An aide to an US Senator told Anita Mathur that William B Milam and Mushfiqul Fazal Ansarey are currently pursing more than a dozen of US Congressmen and Senators with the request of sending fresh letters demanding sanctions on hundreds of politicians and civil-military officials in Bangladesh, while they also are looking for similar letters calling upon the US administration to directly intervene in Bangladesh’s next general election.

The aide further said, such letters may be issued after November’s midterm elections.

It may be mentioned here that, although to most of the people in Washington DC, William Bryant Milam an American diplomat is known as the Senior Policy Scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, in reality, Milam is affiliated with radical Islamic jihadist groups as well as notorious Jamaat-e-Islami.

In the United States, one of his top cohorts in as individual named Mushfiqul Fazal Ansarey, who represents an non-existent website from Bangladesh named Just News and also claims to be the Executive Director of a dubious organization named Right to Freedom, which is funded by Jamaat-e-Islami and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

Former diplomat William B Milam is the president of this organization and has been receiving monthly “honorarium” from the Islamist nexus. According to the website of Right to Freedom, it does not have any office or contact phone numbers. The pattern of this dubious organization is similar to deep-covered entities of Al Qaeda, Islamic State, Muslim Brotherhood, Hezbollah and Hamas.

Most interestingly, Ansarey has become the White House correspondent for Just News, an illegal news portal that is ruthlessly anti-US, anti-Semite, anti-India and pro-jihad. It is a mystery as to how the White House authorities have issued accreditation to Mushfiqul Fazal Ansarey to represent an illegal and unknown news portal.

William B Milam was a career diplomat. He retired from the United States Foreign Service at the end of July 2001 but was recalled after September 11, and spent nine months helping to set up the multilateral mechanism for the reconstruction of Afghanistan. He was also recalled to serve as interim Charge d’Affairs at the United States Embassy in Tripoli, Libya, prior to the re-establishment of a permanent American ambassadorial post to Libya. His last post before retirement was as Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan where he served from August 1998 to July 2001. During his stay in Islamabad, Inter Service Intelligence (ISI), Pakistan’s spy agency succeeded in establishing a special rapport with him. Since then he has been writing op-ed columns for Pakistani newspaper Daily Times.

On November 5, 1999, during his stay in Pakistan, William B Milam wrote a paper titled ‘Islam and America, which was presented to the American Studies Conference, where he has blindly praised Pakistan and even radical Islam. Later this controversial paper has disappeared from the website.

With Mushfique Fazal Ansarey, Milam runs a dubious organization named Right to Freedom, which receives funding from Jamaat-e-Islami and other Islamist and jihadist forces and individuals. He has also been playing lead role in spreading propaganda and lies against Bangladesh’s ruling Awami League as well as various organizations and individuals.

Seeking anonymity, a source said, as William B Milam has connections with key officials at the State Department as well as members of the US Congress and Senate, he is being used by Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and Jamaat-e-Islami as well as other Islamist forces in Bangladesh. One of Milam’s agendas is also to lure Biden administration in directly interfering into 2023 general elections in Bangladesh.

It said, while political opponents of the ruling Awami League are making frantic bids in putting Bangladesh and the ruling party into deep crisis, there isn’t any real counter efforts from the Bangladesh authorities, including the Bangladesh embassy in Washington DC.

Mushfique Fazal Ansarey has been maintaining deeper links with militancy outfit Ansar Al Islam, which is a franchise of Al Qaeda and Islamic State. He also maintains contacts with militancy groups in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
