In Bolivia, 28-year-old Briton Claire Bye nearly lost her leg after surviving a dolphin attack. This is written by The Independent.

It is noted that the tourist went on a seven-month trip to South and Central America in October 2022. One day, while hiking through the jungle, she, along with the rest of the travelers, began to swim and play with the Amazonian dolphins living in the water.

However, soon the mammals began to show aggression, and the girl decided to stand on the pontoon to play with them with a water bottle. After a few minutes, Bai dropped the bottle and dipped into the water to retrieve it.

After that, one of the dolphins suddenly attacked the tourist and bit her on the right leg. People who were nearby tried to help the girl climb the pontoon, but the mammal did not open its teeth. Only after 20 seconds of struggle the dolphin released the victim.

It is noted that the dolphin almost tore off the woman’s leg. “We only drove for five minutes, but I was in agony, screaming and demanding painkillers,” she said. Medics from a local hospital gave the traveler 32 stitches. As a result of the incident, Bai underwent another operation after getting an infection in her wound.

Earlier, a Russian tourist who came to the country on vacation with his family drowned on one of the beaches in South Africa. The incident took place in the city of Durban. A 47-year-old man was washed away by waves on the beach of Vue Umhlanga. Read more about this in the material of the BLiTZ.
