Bus falls into river after breaking railing of bridge in Khargone, 22 including three children killed


Khargone, May 9 (Hindustan Times). In Madhya Pradesh’s Khargone district, on Tuesday morning, a passenger bus broke the railing of the Borad river bridge and fell 50 feet into the river. 22 passengers on the bus died in this accident. The dead included three children, nine women and 10 men. Another 30 passengers have been injured, who have been admitted to the district hospital. Seven passengers have been seriously injured in these, who have been referred to Indore after first aid. Home Minister Narottam Mishra said that a magisterial inquiry has been ordered.

According to the information, 50 to 60 people were traveling in the bus of Maa Sharda Travels going from Shrikhandi village to Indore near village Tanda Barud in Khargone district. The bus fell down from the Borad river bridge between Dongargaon and Dansaga at around 8.30 am on Tuesday. It is being told that the bus fell about 50 feet after breaking the railing on the wrong side of the bridge. The death of 22 people has been confirmed in the accident, while more than 30 people are said to be injured. The injured have been admitted to Khargone District Hospital after first aid at Dongargaon.

In a conversation with MLA Ravi Joshi, the villagers said that daily overloaded buses pass at high speed from here, when the villagers stop and stop, the bus drivers get into a dispute. The villagers said that the bus drivers put the lives of the passengers at risk in order to cover the time. RTO is not paying attention to this. Villagers told that the road is good but curvy and the bridge, culvert is also curvy and near blind turns.

Announcement of help of 6 lakhs to the relatives of the dead

The Madhya Pradesh government will provide financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh each to the families of the deceased in the Khargone bus accident. Rs 50 thousand will be given to the seriously injured and Rs 25 thousand to the other injured. The government will get all the injured treated. The government has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the bus accident. At the same time, financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each will be given to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each to the injured from the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund.

On the Khargone accident, Transport Minister Govind Singh Rajput says that preliminary investigation has revealed that the accident happened due to the narrow bridge. The speed of the bus was not fast. The fitness of the bus has been found correct in the investigation. The bus was not carrying more passengers than its capacity. The reason for the accident could be due to sleepiness of the driver. Whoever is found guilty in the investigation, action will be taken.
