CBI registers case against Sameer Wankhede, who came into limelight in Aryan Khan case, raids at 29 places including house

The CBI has registered a case against former Mumbai NCB regional director Sameer Wankhede and three others in a corruption case related to the Aryan Khan cruise case. Not only this, the Central Investigation Agency raided 29 locations in Mumbai, Delhi, Ranchi and Kanpur. An FIR was registered against all of them for demanding a bribe of Rs 25 crore for not implicating Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan in the case of seizure of banned drugs from a cruise ship. After this, 29 places including Wankhede’s residence were raided.

Significantly, Sameer Wankhede arrested Aryan Khan in this case on October 2, 2021. NCB had filed a charge sheet in this case and given a clean chit to Aryan Khan. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the NCB had claimed that there were lapses in the investigation led by Wankhede. He said that searches were conducted at 29 places in Mumbai, Delhi, Ranchi and Kanpur.

Officials said that it is alleged that IRS officer Wankhede and others had allegedly demanded Rs 25 crore to implicate Aryan Khan in the drug case. Officials said that the CBI received information that the officer and his accomplice had allegedly taken Rs 50 lakh as advance. Wankhede was the head of NCB in Mumbai at the time of Aryan Khan’s arrest. He was transferred to the Directorate General of Taxpayer Services in Chennai in May last year.
