CM Yogi’s gift to state employees, dearness-relief allowance increased by 4 percent, 19 lakh employee-pensioners will be benefited

Lucknow : There is good news for the state employees and pensioners of Uttar Pradesh. The state government is going to give Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) at an increased rate of four percent from January 1, 2023. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has approved the file of this dearness allowance. After this increase, DA and DR of employees and pensioners will increase from 38 to 42 percent. The increase in DA-DR will benefit 16 lakh state employees and 22 lakh pensioners.

Will get the benefit of the increase in the salary of the month of May

On Monday evening, CM Yogi approved the DA and DR hike file. You will get the benefit of increase in salary for the month of May. The arrears of the previous four months will be deposited in the Provident Fund and National Savings Certificates of the employees. Along with the payment of increased dearness allowance to the state employees, the pensioners of the state government will get four percent increased dearness relief. However, no mandate to this effect was issued by the Finance Department till late night.

The state will have an additional burden of Rs 296 crore

On the other hand, on payment of dearness allowance and dearness relief at the increased rate, there will be an additional burden of about Rs 296 crore every month on the exchequer of the government. In July 2023, state employees will again be entitled to increase in dearness allowance. The Central Government increases the Dearness Allowance (DA) of its employees and Dearness Relief (DR) of pensioners on the basis of inflation index twice a year.

After the central government announced the increase in dearness allowance in July, the state government will also give the benefit of this increase to its employees. The benefit of the increase in dearness allowance of July can be encashed from October or November like in previous years.

Now waiting for the mandate of the finance department

Let us tell you that on March 24, 2023, the central government had announced a four percent increase in DA and DR. After which on Monday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath signed the file related to DA and DR increase. Now DA and DR of government employees and pensioners in UP will increase from 38 percent to 42 percent on basic pay. However, to implement this, the Finance Department will issue a separate mandate.
