Cyclone Mocha prepared in the Bay of Bengal

Kolkata, 6 May (Hindustan Times). Cyclone Mocha has formed in the Bay of Bengal. According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, a cyclone has formed in the Bay of Southeast Bengal on Saturday. A low pressure is likely over the region during the next 24 hours.

The Alipore Meteorological Department said on Saturday afternoon that “low pressure may form on Sunday morning. After this pressure, the cyclonic storm is likely to become more effective. There is a possibility of heavy rains with strong thunderstorms on Monday.” Meteorologists are monitoring the situation after the formation of a cyclone in the Bay of Bengal.

The state administration is already on alert regarding the cyclone. Felling of trees has started in Bidhan Nagar area. Calcutta city officials claim that preparations have been made to deal with the disaster. Apart from West Bengal, activities have also started in Odisha. Coastal districts of the state have already been ordered to alert.

In the last few years, one after the other cyclonic storms have formed in the Bay of Bengal in the month of May. The cyclonic storm “Amphan” that came in 2020 was very deadly. After that in May of 2021, Cyclone Yes had knocked. Asni cyclone was formed in May 2022. Cyclone Sitarang hit in October the same year.
