Defense Minister Rajnath Singh to review the security situation at Ground Zero in Jammu and Kashmir

New Delhi, 06 May (Hindustan Times). Defense Minister Rajnath Singh along with Army Chief General Manoj Pandey is reaching Jammu today to review the security situation in Jammu sector. He will take information about the latest status of Ground Zero from military officers. Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi is already at Ground Zero. Jammu and Kashmir LG Manoj Sinha has paid tributes to five army personnel killed in a blast during an encounter with terrorists in Rajouri district yesterday.

Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi, Commander of the Army’s Northern Command, arrived at Ground Zero this morning. He reviewed the operational status of the ongoing military operations in Kandi (Rajouri). He was briefed by the ground commanders on all aspects of the operation.

Meanwhile, in the ongoing encounter in Rajouri, one terrorist has been killed and one terrorist is likely to be injured. The seizures made so far include one AK-56, four magazines, 56 rounds, one 9mm pistol with magazine, three grenades and one ammunition. The slain terrorist is being identified.

More troops along with Indian Air Force helicopters have been deployed in the Kandi area for the final assault. The military forces encountered the terrorists at around 1:15 am. After this tremendous firing started. The army believes that the terrorist has a large amount of weapons. They cannot survive without the support of the local people.
