National President of All India Jewelers and Goldsmiths Federation (AIJGF) Pankaj Arora said on Saturday that on Akshaya Tritiya, there is an estimated business of about Rs 998 crore in Delhi and Rs 14.5 thousand crore across the country. Due to the festival of Akshaya Tritiya falling on Saturday and Sunday weekend for two days, as well as Eid, there has been a strong inflow of customers in bullion markets across the country. There are a total of 4 lakh small and big jewelers across the country, out of which about one lakh 60 thousand are BIS registered traders and about 2 lakh 40 thousand unregistered bullion traders.

Arora told that the average sale of gold and silver by all small and medium jewellers, has been Rs 4 lakh per jeweller. In this way, the trade of jewelery and bullion is estimated to be around Rs 14.5 thousand crore in the entire country. Despite the high prices of gold and silver this time, the demand for lightweight jewelery was the highest among the customers. Popular offers by bullion traders to attract customers have resulted in good sales. Traders also had a good collection of Polki and Kundan Lal & Sons jewellery. On this occasion, investors have turned to bullion and coins.
