February 27, BLiTZ: News On the occasion of the anniversary of the Russian special operation on the territory of Ukraine, the Western allies expressed their readiness to support Kyiv for the entire necessary period and seemed to be considering the possibility of a negotiated solution to the conflict.

Although no one in the West sees the possibility of an immediate dialogue, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron have expressed their belief that neither side can win militarily, and the moment for negotiations will come soon enough. Writes about this “Kommersant”.

According to The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), Berlin, Paris and London intend to convince Kiev to enter into a dialogue with Moscow as early as 2023, offering in return a defense pact that provides Ukraine with greater access to Western military equipment and security guarantees.

The WSJ also reported that Germany, France and the UK are looking at strengthening ties between NATO and Ukraine as a way to “encourage Kiev to start peace talks with Russia later this year” as some Western allies “have growing doubts about Kiev’s ability to retake all of its territory.”

The Ukrainian authorities declare their readiness to solve the set tasks – the return to the 1991 borders – by military means, however, according to media reports, the United States dissuades Ukraine from trying to implement this plan in relation to Crimea, fearing the crossing of “red lines”.

Moscow, on the other hand, is ready for negotiations now, even without preconditions, but at the same time it makes it clear that any agreements imply “recognition of new territorial realities.”

On February 24, 2022, the Russian Federation Army launched a special military operation in Ukraine.

Acting head of the Donetsk People’s Republic Denis Pushilin said that the Russian Armed Forces are approaching Vuhledar from three directions at once: from the south, southwest and west. The head of the DPR stressed that “the process is not going fast.”

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, in turn, said that the situation in Donbass is getting tougher. According to Zelensky, a very difficult situation for the Armed Forces of Ukraine is developing in Artemovsk (Bakhmut) and Vugledar, as well as in Limansky and other directions.
