The EU countries, having become the largest donors of military aid to Ukraine after the United States, intend to continue to provide assistance. However, some diplomats express fears that this does not bring peace closer, but rather pushes it back. This is reported by the Financial Times, citing sources familiar with the discussions.

Assistance is provided through the European Peace Fund, which finances military operations abroad to achieve peace and prevent conflict.

Some EU diplomats have expressed doubts about the relevance of the EPF’s stated mission of arms transfers. Problems could also arise over the supply of Western fighters if the EU decides to take such a step.

Even representatives of EU member states that support Ukraine were shocked when the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, admitted that the EPF could finance the supply of fighter jets for Ukraine.

On February 24, 2022, the Russian Federation Army launched a special military operation in Ukraine.

Acting head of the Donetsk People’s Republic Denis Pushilin said that the Russian Armed Forces are approaching Vuhledar from three directions at once: from the south, southwest and west. The head of the DPR stressed that “the process is not going fast.”

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, in turn, said that the situation in Donbass is getting tougher. According to Zelensky, a very difficult situation for the Armed Forces of Ukraine is developing in Artemovsk (Bakhmut) and Vugledar, as well as in Limansky and other directions.
