Gir Somnath, May 19 (Hindustan Times). These days Kesar mango of famous Talala of Gir Somnath district has created a lot of buzz in the country and abroad. Despite the unseasonal rains, large quantities of mangoes are reaching the Talala marketing yard. In the last one month, 3.30 lakh boxes (one box 10 kg) of mangoes were delivered to Talala Yard, while mango farmers have received an income of about Rs 17 crore.
Kesar mango season started in Talala from 18th April. 21800 boxes of 10kg arrived at the yard on Friday. Due to this, the whole yard became fragrant with the fragrance of saffron and mango. A box of good quality mangoes cost Rs 760.
According to the secretary of Talala Marketing Yard, the average price of Kesar Mango per 10 kg in Talala Marketing Yard during the last one month was Rs 520. Due to this, the farmers have so far earned an income of about Rs 17 crore. The farmers, who have been hit by unseasonal rains, have been told that it is satisfactory to get this price. The arrival of mangoes in Talala yard has now started increasing slowly. Till now the yard was buzzing with the early crop but now the arrival of the later crop has increased. The later mango crop is more in Talala area.
Apart from Talala Marketing Yard, sending saffron mango boxes in large quantities to different centers of Saurashtra including Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Gondal, Junagadh, Porbandar through saffron mango wholesalers, commission agents etc. in different areas of Talala city. It has started. According to an estimate, 1 lakh kesar mango boxes are being sold daily from Talala city.
