Gujarat: Kalol court sentences POCSO accused to 20 years rigorous imprisonment

The Kalol court has sentenced the POCSO accused to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 20,000. Special POCSO judge AA Nanavati sentenced a girl for raping a girl for three consecutive days in a village in Kalol taluka.

According to the information received, the accused Sanjay Singh alias Brijpal Singh Thakur had raped the girl for three consecutive days. On 28, 29 and 30 January-2021, when no one was present in the room, he raped the girl for three days on the pretext of chocolate and ten rupees and threatened to kill her if she spoke to anyone. After the incident of rape, the police have registered a case under the POCSO Act. Police registered the crime and filed the charge sheet in the Kalol court.

On May 12, Special POCSO Judge AA Nanavati pronounced the verdict in the case at the Kalol Sessions Court. Keeping in view the arguments of the public prosecutor during the course of the case in the court, the judge sentenced the accused to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of twenty thousand rupees. It is worth mentioning that a month ago in Kalol also an accused was sentenced to death in a POCSO case.
