The Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of rain in Gujarat for the next five days. Many parts of the state including Saurashtra-Kutch, north and central Gujarat have been receiving rains since Saturday morning. The condition of the farmers has become worst due to rain. It is the turn of the farmers who want good price for mangoes to cry in the summer season. Due to incessant rains in Junagadh, the auction had to start early in the marketing yard.
Loss of lakhs of rupees in mango crop
The mango boxes were drenched in the rain, due to which the farmers had to conduct the auction amidst heavy rains. 15 thousand boxes of mangoes brought to the marketing yard got wet. Crops like Sesame, Ravana, Chiku have also suffered losses worth lakhs of rupees in the marketing yard. In the coming days, it will have to be seen how the farmers preserve the mangoes in their orchards. The farmers of mango orchards have demanded the government to provide assistance as soon as possible in case of loss of lakhs of rupees in the mango crop.
Rain in more than 60 taluks in 6 hours
It has rained in more than 60 talukas in Gujarat in the last 6 hours. Gondal, Morbi and Dhrol in Saurashtra received one and a half inches of rain. While Jamnagar, Jamkandorna, Kotda Sangani and Mangrol have received 1.25 inches of rain. Due to unseasonal rains on Saturday, water has been filled at many places. According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, there has been heavy rain in many districts including Ahmedabad. Bhavnagar district received scattered rain while Lunawada in Mahisagar district received unseasonal rain.
Monsoon like atmosphere in summer
It rained with thunder in Dholka of Ahmedabad in the early hours. Besides this, Gondal in Rajkot district also received torrential rains of 1.5 inches in the early morning hours, creating monsoon-like conditions. Water accumulated in many low-lying areas of Gondal. Rain water flooded the main roads of the city. Apart from Gondal, it has been raining in most parts of Saurashtra since morning. Junagadh, Gir has also received heavy rains. It rained early in the morning in Rajkot as well and due to rain there was power failure in many areas.
