Even after the blast, the people of the nursery school and residential apartments around the incident site had to be sent to safer places. Pictures broadcast by news channel Sky TG24 showed black smoke billowing from the narrow streets of Porta Romana in the heart of Italy’s financial and fashion capital Milan. The news agency La Presse has reported that firefighters are trying to extinguish the flames, which have engulfed other vehicles as well.

There is also news that due to the explosion, the front part of a building near the spot has also caught fire. Sky TG24 reported that one person is reported to have suffocated, while children living in the day care have been taken to a safe place after the incident. Eyewitnesses told that at around 11.45 am local time, they heard a loud explosion.
