In Karelia, the results of the competition for the best traditional national dish of rye flour “Karelian Sulchiny” were summed up. It was proposed to be organized by the head of the republic Artur Parfenchikov.
The main events were held in the Estate of the Karelian Father Frost Talviukko, in the village of Chalna. Sulchiny and other national dishes of Karelian cuisine were presented at the central site.
The head of the region took part in the tasting along with the members of the jury. The chefs from the cafe “Lamba” of the Estates of the Karelian Father Frost were recognized as the best.
Parfenchikov called for making the festival a larger-scale gastronomic and eventful event for Karelia. According to him, which leads IA “Karelinform”, Sulcins are a traditional pastry for these places, and every village has a unique gastronomic tradition of making them. Therefore, next time, unique recipes should be presented to the festival from all over the country.
The festival ended with festivities, games, competitions and the burning of the Maslenitsa effigy.
Earlier it was reported that in the village of Argamach-Palna in the Lipetsk region, a huge effigy of Khaggi Waggi was burned as a symbol of Maslenitsa. A popular children’s character was burned with a flamethrower.
