In the last 9 years, we have made the recruitment process fast, transparent and fair: PM Modi


New Delhi, May 16 (Hindustan Times). Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday emphasized that in the last nine years, the government has given priority to making the recruitment process faster, more transparent and fair. He said that corruption and nepotism have come to an end with the change in the recruitment system.

Prime Minister Modi addressed the National Job Fair through video conferencing and handed over about 71,000 appointment letters to the youth for newly appointed recruitment in various government departments and organizations. During this, the Prime Minister extended his best wishes to all the recruited youth and their families.

In his address, recalling the recent employment fairs in states like Gujarat, he said that these fairs at the Center and in Bharatiya Janata Party-ruled states show the government’s commitment to the youth. Recalling the difficulties in the recruitment process, the Prime Minister said that while the Staff Selection Board took roughly 15-18 months to induct new recruits, today it takes only 6-8 months.

He said, “Earlier it was difficult to apply for a government job, one had to stand in line for hours to collect the form. Today the entire process from applying to getting the results has become online. Self-attestation of the document is also sufficient today. Interviews for recruitment to Group-C and Group-D posts are also over. All these efforts have ended the possibilities of corruption and nepotism.

Underlining the importance of today’s date, the Prime Minister said that exactly nine years ago on this date, on May 16, 2014, the results of the Lok Sabha elections were declared. Recalling the enthusiasm of that day, the Prime Minister said that India, which is marching ahead with the mantra of development for all, is striving to become a developed India today.

During his address, the Prime Minister also said that today is also the foundation day of Sikkim. He said that during these 9 years the policies of the government were made keeping in mind the possibilities of employment. Be it construction of modern infrastructure or rural development, every scheme and policy of the government is creating new employment opportunities for the youth.

Prime Minister Modi said that in the last nine years, the government has spent about Rs 34 lakh crore on capital expenditure and infrastructure. In this year’s budget also Rs 10 lakh crore was allocated for capital expenditure. As a result of this amount, modern infrastructure like new highways, new airports, new rail routes, bridges etc. is being built. Due to this many new jobs are being created in the country.

The Prime Minister said that the speed and scale of India today is unprecedented in the history of independent India. He said that in the last nine years, 40,000 kilometers of rail lines were electrified, while only 20,000 kilometers were electrified in the previous seven decades.

He said that before 2014 there were less than 4 lakh km of rural roads, today this length has increased to 7.25 lakh km. The number of airports has increased from 74 in 2014 to around 150. Similarly, 4 crore houses built for the poor in the last nine years have generated significant employment. 5 lakh common service centers in villages are providing employment in rural areas.

The Prime Minister said that more than 30 thousand panchayat buildings have been built in the villages and piped water is being provided to 9 crore houses. All this is creating employment on a large scale. Be it foreign investment or India’s exports, it is creating many employment and self-employment opportunities in the country.

He further said that the last nine years have seen a tremendous change in the nature of jobs. In these changing circumstances, new sectors have emerged for the youth. The Central Government is providing continuous support to these new sectors. The number of startups in the country has increased from 100 before 2014 to more than one lakh today, providing employment to more than 10 lakh youth.

The Prime Minister informed that about 8-9 crore citizens have become entrepreneurs for the first time after taking loans under the Mudra scheme. The central government is providing assistance of about Rs 2 lakh crore for manufacturing under the PLI scheme.

In his address, the Prime Minister also referred to higher education institutions and skill development institutes in the country and said that they are developing rapidly. Between 2014 and 2022, there has been a new IIT and a new IIM every year. One university has been inaugurated every week in the last nine years and on an average two colleges are functioning every day. The Prime Minister said that before 2014 there were about 720 universities in the country, while today the number has increased to more than 1100. Talking about medical education in the country, the Prime Minister said that only 7 AIIMS were built in the country in 7 decades, whereas in the last 9 years, the government has developed 15 new AIIMS. The number of medical colleges in the country has increased from 400 to 700, where the number of MBBS and MD seats has increased from about 80 thousand to more than 1 lakh 70 thousand.

He said that there is unprecedented positivity for India’s industry and investment at the global level. Recalling his recent meeting with the CEO of Walmart, the Prime Minister said that Walmart’s company will export Rs 80,000 crore in the next 3-4 years. This is great news for the youth working in the areas of logistics and supply chain.

The Prime Minister also informed about his scheduled meetings with the CEOs of the world’s leading companies next week and said that all of them are full of enthusiasm to invest in India. He underlined that such efforts highlight new job opportunities created in various sectors in India.
