Indian team fully prepared to play against Australia: Janneke Schoepmann

New Delhi, May 17 (Hindustan Times). The Indian women’s hockey team is currently on a tour of Australia for a five-match series. The team will play its first match against hosts Australia on Thursday. Before the match, the head coach of the Indian women’s hockey team Janneke Schoppmann has said that the Indian team is fully prepared to play against Australia. He said the players are upbeat and ready to face Australia.

In a statement issued by Hockey India on Wednesday, Shopman said that the weather here is very good. We are feeling fine. We are ready to show what we have been working on here in the last few weeks, he said.

The Indian team, to be led by top goalscorer Savita, will take on the senior Australia team in the first three matches of their Australia tour, while Australia A will play the other two matches. All matches (May 18-27) will be played at the Met Stadium in Adelaide. The tour is part of the Indian women’s hockey team’s preparation for the Hangzhou Asian Games 2023, scheduled in September-October this year. The Indian team will play the first match on May 18, followed by two consecutive matches on May 20 and 21. After this, the team will play against Australia A on May 25 and 27.

The Indian team left for Adelaide on May 14 and since then the team has been training there to acclimatize to the conditions in Australia. Talking about this, Captain Savita said that we are training everyday so that the team gets used to the ground and conditions in Adelaide.
