New Delhi, 2 May (Hindustan Times). The Indian cricket team has overtaken Australia to reach the top of the Test rankings after the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) annual rankings update. The annual update takes into account the results of all series played since May 2020, with series completed before May 2022 being weighted at 50 per cent and series after that at 100 per cent.

India’s rating point has increased from 119 to 121 as their 2-0 loss against New Zealand in March 2020 is not counted. The last time the Indian team reached the top was in December 2021 for a month.

The Australian team has dropped from 122 rating points to 116 points as its home series wins over Pakistan (2-0) and New Zealand (3-0) in 2019-20 are no longer in the rankings, while over England in 2021-22 His 4-0 win is calculated by halving to 50 percent.

The England team remains in third place. England has 144 rating points. There has been no change in the other rankings as well, although 10th-ranked Zimbabwe has gained five rating points. Afghanistan and Ireland still have enough Tests to play to make it to the rankings table.
