The Russian military is trying to break through the enemy defenses near Belogorovka in the flint direction in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR). Footage of the combat work of the fourth brigade of the Second Army Corps of the Russian Armed Forces (RF Armed Forces) was shown by Izvestia on Monday, February 27.

According to Izvestia correspondent Alexei Poltoranin, Ukrainian militants have seriously dug in on the outskirts of Belogorovka. For this reason, the artillerymen of the RF Armed Forces are constantly shelling enemy positions. In parallel, they are assisted by scouts who transmit operational data on the location of fortified areas, observation posts and concentrations of manpower of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

“We launch drones, do reconnaissance, analysis, identify the enemy, give adjustments, and after 8-10 seconds, artillery begins to work on their (APU. – Ed.) positions. This does not stop, we constantly hammer them constantly, we don’t give them a break, ”said the serviceman with the call sign Yurych.

The work of artillerymen makes it possible for the infantry of the Russian army to advance in the flint direction. In a difficult environment, the fighters occupy new frontiers literally meter by meter.

“The infantry is advancing, we are occupying the territories that they (the Armed Forces of Ukraine. – Ed.) have left, retreated, we are occupying the territories. Slowly but surely we are advancing,” said the fighter with the call sign “Beck”.

During the advance, the military personnel of the RF Armed Forces drove Ukrainian militants out of one of the fortified areas. To do this, they also used a drone, from which the soldiers dropped a fragmentation grenade onto an enemy trench. The surviving militants fled.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that Russian forces had occupied the Stupki neighborhood in Artemivsk (Ukrainian name Bakhmut) in the DPR. Also, the fighters entered Ilyinovka.

On February 27, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Lieutenant-General Igor Konashenkov said that units of the Russian Southern Group of Forces had destroyed more than 250 Ukrainian militants in a day, as well as two tanks, four armored combat vehicles, five vehicles and a D-20 howitzer. In the course of work, Russian aviation helped the fighters.

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special operation to protect Donbass. The decision was made against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region as a result of shelling by the Ukrainian military.
