Kolkata Knight Riders registered a win over the home team Chennai Super Kings at the Chepauk Stadium on Sunday, but the KKR captain was fined for violating the code of conduct. But in the first innings, Rana’s team KKR bowled slowly, as a result of which captain Rana was fined Rs 24 lakh and the rest of the team was fined Rs 6 lakh.

Penalty for slow over rate

A statement issued by the IPL said that this was the KKR captain’s second offense of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences. Therefore, a fine of Rs 24 lakh is imposed on captain Nitish Rana and 25 percent of the match fee or Rs 6 lakh, whichever is less, on the rest of the team members including the substitute player. Rana has accepted the crime, so there was no need for trial.

Nitish Rana fined for the second time

Earlier, Rana was fined 25 per cent of his match fee following an altercation between Mumbai Indians (MI) star Hrithik Shokeen and Rana in the world’s richest T20 tournament. Rana had admitted a Level 1 offense under Article 2.21 of the IPL Code of Conduct. After a resounding win over Chennai on Sunday, KKR have kept their hopes of reaching the playoffs alive. CSK has also not suffered much from this defeat.
