March 2 – BLiTZ. At the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the G20 countries in India, it was not possible to adopt a final declaration. Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar said that instead, the group’s consensus opinion was published on many important issues, on which consensus was reached.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Western countries tried to change the text of the document on the situation in Ukraine, which is why the declaration was blocked. However, the results of the discussion will be presented in a summary to be published by the Indian Chairmanship. Lavrov also apologized to India for the behavior of the Western delegations, which he said was unacceptable.

The G20 Foreign Ministers adopted the final document without mentioning the events in Ukraine, as a result of objections from Russia and China. Provisions 1, 2 and 5-24 were accepted by all, but statements about the situation in Ukraine in parts 3 and 4 were not supported by Russia and China. Earlier, the Prime Minister of India announced the achievement of consensus on many issues, but noted the failure of the G20 to achieve the main goals of global regulation.
