Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said on Thursday that Lord Ram is the identity of India and not just a stone or wooden idol. Singh said that the government will build hospitals, schools, set up industries and also build temples. He was addressing a conclave organized here.

On the occasion of Ram Navami, he said, “When it came to the construction of Ram temple, many people started giving their opinion about it. Some people were of the opinion that a hospital should be built at that place, while some said that a school could be built. Some even suggested that an industry could be set up. These were the people who never understood Lord Ram and never imbibed him in their heart.

The Defense Minister said, “Lord Ram is not just an idol of stone, wood or clay, he is the center of our culture and faith. Lord Ram is the identity of us and our country.” Singh said, “We will build hospitals, schools, set up industries and we will also build temples.”

He also said in his speech that it is because of the efforts of the Center that the Northeast has today come close to the heart of Delhi and the people. Singh said that there is unprecedented peace in the North East today due to which the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) has been revoked from many parts of the region. He said that ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ has become not just a slogan but a mass movement.

Singh said, “As the Defense Minister, I can say that today women are adding more strength to the armed forces by joining them. She is flying fighter aircraft as a fighter pilot. Recently, I approved the induction of women in the artillery.

He said that with the induction of women in the armed forces, together we are moving towards women empowerment and strengthening of the armed forces.
