The operating speed of Delhi Metro’s Airport Express Line will be increased to 100 km per hour from Wednesday. The officers provided this information.

A senior Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) official said that the average speed of a metro train running on regular corridors like Yellow Line, Blue Line and Red Line etc. is 40-50 kmph.

He said that the train can be operated up to a maximum speed of 90 km per hour on the Airport Express Line and it will be increased to 100 km per hour from Wednesday.

This has been done through advanced technology, the official said. According to DMRC officials, there is a plan to increase the speed of the metro train to 120 kmph and this is the beginning of that project.

Officials said that currently, it takes around 25 minutes to travel from New Delhi Metro Station to Airport Metro Station. He said that after increasing the speed, the travel time would be reduced by three-four minutes.
