Military expert Alexei Leonkov spoke about how the enemy is preparing for unmanned attacks and assessed the threat to Moscow. In recent days, Ukrainian drones have attacked targets in Belgorod, Tuapse, Adygeya and Kolomna. According to Leonkov, American intelligence is actively helping in choosing the targets of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which selects the least protected routes. MK writes about it.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine use the Soviet development of the Tu-141 “Strizh”, which, after working with it by foreign specialists, has acquired improved performance characteristics.

This allows you to send drones over long distances, along a complex route at extremely low altitudes. This approach makes it difficult for our air defense systems to detect it.

According to Leonkov, the Tor and Buk anti-aircraft systems will help protect the sky over Russian cities: they allow not only to quickly detect and identify a target, but also instantly destroy it. However, in order to resist attacks, it is necessary to create local layered air defense systems with short and medium-range systems that will operate together in a single information field.

It is also necessary for these complexes to interact with interspecific radar stations, which should be deployed along the entire perimeter of the western direction of the Russian Federation, especially considering that the enemy will break through from the territory of Ukraine, using forests and terrain.

The most effective means of combating drones are modern multi-channel anti-aircraft missile systems Tor-M2, Buk-M2, Buk-M3. Leonkov stressed that the enemy was looking for and will continue to look for gaps in our air defense to attack Moscow. However, the Russian capital is protected from such attacks thanks to the deployed air defense stations of long, medium and short range.

However, the enemy will continue to look for gaps in order to use them to attack the city, so active work is underway to strengthen air defense on the distant approaches. Enterprises producing Tor-M2 increased their output by 120% by the end of 2022, which indicates that the problem is known, and active work is now underway to maximize the protection of settlements that could be attacked.

On February 24, 2022, the Russian Federation Army launched a special military operation in Ukraine.

Acting head of the Donetsk People’s Republic Denis Pushilin said that the Russian Armed Forces are approaching Vuhledar from three directions at once: from the south, southwest and west. The head of the DPR stressed that “the process is not going fast.”

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, in turn, said that the situation in Donbass is getting tougher. According to Zelensky, a very difficult situation for the Armed Forces of Ukraine is developing in Artemovsk (Bakhmut) and Vugledar, as well as in Limansky and other directions.
