Let us inform that a total of 101 posts for promotion in IAS cadre are approved in Bihar, but at present about 70 percent such posts are vacant.
According to media reports, Bihar Administrative Service officers are waiting for promotion in IAS for the last 4 years. This work has been stopped for four years and now the backlog can be cleared. One-third of the total sanctioned IAS posts in Bihar are filled through promotion from Bihar Administrative Officers. About 65 such officers are waiting to be promoted to become IAS which may end soon.

According to media reports, out of total 359 sanctioned posts in Bihar, more than 100 posts are still vacant. There are 248 IAS posted in Bihar, out of which 33 officers are on central deputation, it has been mentioned in media reports. Because of which the command of many departments has been entrusted on the shoulders of a single IAS. Whereas last year 7 officers of non-administrative service were promoted to IAS. This year also some such officers can become IAS. The state government has requested the Center to increase the IAS quota for Bihar.
