Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday flagged off the Vande Bharat Express train running between Rani Kamlapati Railway Station in Bhopal and Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station, Delhi here. Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Patel, State Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Union Minister for Railways, Communications and Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnav were also present on this occasion.

After flagging off the train, the Prime Minister tweeted, ‘Delighted to flag off Bhopal-New Delhi Vande Bharat Express. Our endeavor is to bring changes in the railway sector and make travel accessible to the citizens.

An official associated with the event said, ‘Prime Minister Modi flagged off the Vande-Bharat Express train from platform number-one of Rani Kamlapati railway station in Bhopal at around 4 pm. He greeted the passengers boarding the train by shaking hands. This train will run between Rani Kamlapati Railway Station and Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station (New Delhi).

He told that this train will run six days a week from Sunday to Friday (except Saturday). He told, ‘This train will leave from Rani Kamlapati Railway Station at 05:40 in the morning and will reach Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station at 13:10 in the afternoon of the same day. After one and a half hours, this train will leave from Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station at 14:40 in the afternoon for Rani Kamlapati Railway Station and will reach Rani Kamlapati Railway Station at 22:10.

The official told that this Vande Bharat train has three stoppages… Virangana Laxmibai Railway Station, Gwalior Railway Station and Agra Cantonment. According to the website of the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), the fare from Rani Kamlapati Railway Station to Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station will be Rs 1,735 per person in AC chair car, while the per person fare in executive chair car will be Rs 3,185.

He said that the number of this train will be 20171/20172 and it will be known as Rani Kamalapati-Hazrat Nizamuddin Vande Bharat Express. Passengers will be able to travel in this train from April 3.

The official said, ‘This will be the 11th Vande Bharat Express of the country. The indigenously designed Vande Bharat Express is equipped with excellent travel amenities. The train is fitted with Kavach (anti-collision system) and state-of-the-art fire control system. It also has bio vacuum toilet with touch-free facilities.

He said that apart from this, the coaches of this train have CCTV and facility to talk to the guards and drivers. For information and entertainment, each coach is fitted with a ‘Passenger Information and Infotainment System’. It has 180-degree swivel seats and automatic doors with sliding foot steps, the official said. Besides, there are differently-abled-friendly toilets, seat handles and seat numbers in Braille script, he said.
