NCP meeting in Maharashtra after BJP’s defeat in Karnataka, political calculus discussed

Mumbai : In the recent Karnataka assembly elections, the ruling party BJP at the center has faced defeat, but the effect of its defeat is visible in Maharashtra. Encouraged by the defeat of the BJP in Karnataka and the victory of the Congress, the opposition Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in Maharashtra has already started calculations for the future politics in the state. It is reported that a meeting of the NCP’s core committee was held in India’s industrial capital Mumbai on Wednesday, which was presided over by party chief Sharad Pawar. In this meeting, after the defeat of BJP in Karnataka, the whole political situation was discussed and the possibility was also explored that what new can be done regarding the coalition government of BJP and Eknathi Shiv Sena in Maharashtra.

Brainstorming on the possibilities of local and Lok Sabha elections

During a conversation with the media, NCP’s chief spokesperson Mahesh Taapsee said that the organizational matters of the party were also discussed during the meeting. He said that NCP’s core committee meeting was held in Mumbai under the chairmanship of Sharad Pawar. In order to prepare the workers in view of the local and general elections, the matters of party organization were discussed extensively.

Party’s organizational election will be announced soon

Party spokesperson Mahesh Tapase said the announcement of NCP’s internal organizational elections will be made soon by senior leaders Jayaprakash Dandegaonkar and Dilip Walse Patil, who have been appointed as returning officers for Maharashtra and Mumbai regions, respectively. He said this was the first meeting of NCP leaders after the Karnataka election results and it assumes significance considering that there is an anti-incumbency wave against the Shinde-Fadnavis government in Maharashtra, like in Karnataka.

Objection to the suspension of Parambir Singh

Taapsee said that the core committee of NCP has also expressed strong objection to the cancellation of the suspension of retired IPS officer Parambir Singh. He said that Parambir Singh had made baseless allegations against NCP leader and the then Home Minister Anil Deshmukh to tarnish the image of the Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA) government. Now his suspension is being revoked and the period of suspension will be treated as service. He said whether the BJP is thanking Singh for implicating Anil Deshmukh in a false allegation? At the same time, NCP state president Jayant Patil said that the 24th foundation day of the party would be celebrated in Ahmednagar on June 10.
