NIA files charge sheet against 19 more people

In its fifth chargesheet this month against banned outfit Popular Front of India (PFI), the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday filed a chargesheet against 19 people, including 12 members of the organisation’s National Executive Council (NEC). An officer gave this information.

The case pertains to his alleged involvement in a conspiracy to wage war for the establishment of an Islamic caliphate in the country. With the filing of the charge sheet in the Delhi case, the NIA has so far filed charge sheets against 105 accused in PFI cases across the country, a spokesperson of the federal agency said.

The spokesman said the 19 accused, against whom the charge sheet has been filed under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, are Salam, Rahiman, Nazruddin, Ahmed, Afsar Pasha, E Abubacker, Professor P Koya and Mohd. Ali Jinnah included.

The other accused named in the chargesheet are Abdul Wahid Sait, A S Ismail, Mohd Yusuf, Mohd Bashir, Shafeer K P, Jasir K P, Shahid Nasir, Waseem Ahmed, Mohd Shakif, Mohd Farooq Ur Rehman and Yasser Arafat alias “Yasir Hasan”.
