Baramulla, May 4 (Hindustan Times). The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday raided 16 locations in Jammu and Kashmir in connection with the Jamaat-e-Islami terror funding case, which the agency is probing since 2021. The raid is currently going on.

Several teams of NIA, along with the Central Reserve Police Force and Jammu and Kashmir Police, are conducting searches at 11 locations in Baramulla and five in Kishtwar district. The places being searched by the NIA include residential premises of persons linked to banned separatist group Jamaat-e-Islami and those involved in terrorism.

The NIA had registered a First Information Report (FIR) in 2021 against Jamaat-e-Islami and its cadres named in the terror funding case. The Ministry of Home Affairs had banned Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in early 2019 for its anti-national and subversive activities.
