Nigerian sex workers do swift business outside mosques

It isn’t hard to see why the men coming out of the mosque would not see anything wrong with taking up with these call girls. The seizure of Infidel girls and their use as sex slaves is sanctioned in the Qur’an. According to Islamic law, Muslim men can take “captives of the right hand” (Qur’an 4:3, 4:24, 33:50). The Qur’an says: “O Prophet! Lo! We have made lawful unto thee thy wives unto whom thou hast paid their dowries, and those whom thy right hand possesseth of those whom Allah hath given thee as spoils of war” (33:50). 4:3 and 4:24 extend this privilege to Muslim men in general. The Qur’an says that a man may have sex with his wives and with these slave girls: “The believers must (eventually) win through, those who humble themselves in their prayers; who avoid vain talk; who are active in deeds of charity; who abstain from sex, except with those joined to them in the marriage bond, or (the captives) whom their right hands possess, for (in their case) they are free from blame.” (Qur’an 23:1-6)

If sex slavery is sanctioned, and temporary marriage, which is essentially prostitution, accepted among Shi’ites and some Sunnis, it isn’t a big jump to seeing no problem with outright prostitution. Temporary marriage is an established Shi’ite concept. Shi’ites justify temporary marriage, mutah, by their reading of Qur’an 4:24:

And also prohibited to you are all married women except those your right hands possess. The decree of Allah upon you. And lawful to you are beyond these, which you seek with your property, desiring chastity, not unlawful sexual intercourse. So for whatever you enjoy from them, give them their due compensation as an obligation. And there is no blame upon you for what you mutually agree to beyond the obligation. Indeed, Allah is ever Knowing and Wise.

They see in this marriage as something contracted by means of payment (“give them their due compensation”) for a specified time by mutual agreement.

However, it is also found among Sunnis. We have seen it in Egypt, and it has been reported as also rising among Saudis.

“Nigerian man complains about call girls who besiege mosque every night, shares photo,” by Akinpelu Oluwafunmilayo, Legit, February 1, 2019.

Normally, call girls in Nigeria usually know their boundaries of operation. They are seen at places like bars, clubs and hotels. But it would appear that some of these ladies do not mind calling out to men who are in the religious sector as well.

Recently, a Nigerian man took to lamenting about an issue of great concern to him. According to him, his community in Surulere, Lagos, have been facing a problem which is making them extremely unhappy. According to him, some call girls who trade their bodies for money have always been spotted pitching their tents near a mosque.

These ladies who are blatantly defying an unspoken rule of engagement have been reported to be found at the same mosque every night. These ladies do not just stay there for the fun of it. They reach out to men who have come to pray at the mosque. This action has discontented so many people in the environment.

Knowing that Legit.ng is one news platform passionate about voicing out about the concerns of communities, the particular man who shared this story exclusively reported the matter to us.

Not only that, he also shared a picture which was meant to prove his statement right. In expressing his discontentment at the issue, the man whose name on Facebook is Harun Bakare had this to say: “There are some prostitute[s] at the front of our mosque that are always disturbing us in the night with their music playing bad dressing and the way they are always calling our people that want to come and pray at no 1 Babashola Street opposite Oseni street Lawanson road. Please sir we have reported to the security around us they did not do anything please help us.”
