Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said communal forces must be resisted to make the country’s independence meaningful as BNP is propelling the evil forces.

“The communal forces re-emerged (in the country) and the BNP is instigating and patronizing those,” he said this while addressing the conference of Noagaon’s Porsha upazila unit of AL through videoconferencing from his official residence here.

Quader, also the Road Transport And Bridges Minister, said all the AL leaders and workers must be united against the communal forces since there is no alternative to remain united to resist the evil forces.

“The smell of conspiracy is still found in the air…the vapour of communalism is being spread. So, we all should remain united against the sinister forces,” he said.

The AL general secretary said an intrigue is on to oust the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government. “ As the BNP has failed in waging an anti-government movement, its leaders are leaving no stone unturned to assume power through local and international plots ,” he said.

Quader said if the AL leaders and workers remain united, no evil force will be able to oust the incumbent government.

About the party’s discipline, he said AL President Sheikh Hasina has taken a rigid stance on the party’s discipline. If any AL leader does not follow the party’s discipline, he or she would not be spared, he added.

The AL general secretary asked the AL leaders not to include any opportunist in the committees of the party.

“The party must be made well-organised by including the dedicated leaders in its committees. The dedicated and tested leaders must protect and save the Awami League,” he added.

Quader said the present government has carried out massive development works in the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

He said a disciplined democratic system was restored in the country and that is why the role of Sheikh Hasina, as an honest and courageous leader, was acclaimed around the world.

Chaired by Porsha upazila AL president Md Anwarul Islam, the conference was addressed, among others, by AL organising secretary SM Kamal Hossain, its health and population affairs secretary Dr Rokeya Sultana, central committee member Nurul Islam Thandu, Noagaon district AL president Md Abdul Malek, Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder, Shahiduzzaman Sarkar, MP, and local AL leaders barrister Nizam Uddin Jalil John and Anwar Hossain Helel.
