During the testing of the aircraft fuselage at the Aviastar aircraft plant in Ulyanovsk, one of the employees of the enterprise died. This was reported on March 2 at the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC).
“Several employees of the enterprise were injured, one died. The injured are receiving medical assistance. Emergency services are working at the scene, ”the corporation explained.
As noted in the UAC, the tests during which the incident occurred were carried out with the fuselage compartment of the Il-76MD-90A heavy military transport aircraft, the details of the incident are being established. According to the representative of the UAC, problems arose during one of the stages of testing the fuselage, when after assembly it is checked for leaks by pumping excess pressure into the compartments.
“The families of the deceased and injured employees will be provided with all the necessary support and assistance from the enterprise. The management of Aviastar, the aviation complex named after S.V. Ilyushin and UAC express their sincere condolences to the family of the deceased employee,” the corporation added.
The emergency services reported that a total of five people were injured during the incident, all of them were taken to a medical facility, where they are being treated.
Earlier that day, a source from Izvestia reported that one person died and five others were injured during testing of the fuselage at the Ulyanovsk Aviation Plant. The source said that the injured employees of the enterprise were provided with medical assistance.
