The passing out parade of the first batch of Agniveers will be held at INS Chilka on 28 March. The Navy gave this information on Saturday. Officials said that traditionally, the passing out parade (POP) is held in the morning. However, this historic POP will be conducted after sunset for the first time in the history of the Indian Armed Forces.

Navy Chief Admiral R. Hari Kumar will be the chief guest and review officer for POP. The POP marks the successful completion of the training of around 2,600 fire fighters undergoing training at Chilka in Odisha. These include 273 women Agniveers.

“The Passing Out Parade (POP) of the first batch of Agniveers is to be held at INS Chilka on March 28,” the Navy said in a statement. The Navy said that the successful trainees would be posted on frontline warships for their sea training.

The first batch of Agniveers also includes those Agniveers (men and women) who were part of the Indian Navy’s Republic Day parade contingent on the line of duty on January 26 this year, officials said.

It is noteworthy that on June 14, 2022, the Defense Minister and the chiefs of the three services started the Agneepath scheme. Those recruited under this scheme were named Agniveer.
