Patrushev meets Cuban President and Army General in Havana

Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev met with Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel and leader of the revolution General Raul Castro in Havana. The negotiations took place on Wednesday, March 1.

The participants of the event discussed a number of issues related to the development of Russian-Cuban relations. In particular, the strategic priorities of Moscow and Havana, as well as topical international problems, were submitted for consideration.

A day earlier, Patrushev paid a visit to Caracas. In the framework of bilateral consultations with Venezuela, he discussed the prospects for cooperation between the special services and law enforcement agencies. It was noted that special attention was paid to countering “color revolutions”.

At the end of December, Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Cuban counterpart Miguel Diaz-Canel had a telephone conversation on bilateral relations between states. Emphasis was placed on joint projects in industry, energy and other areas. The leaders of the countries expressed their readiness to strengthen cooperation.

Prior to that, on November 22, the leaders of the two countries met in Moscow. During the talks, the current state and prospects for the development of the Russian-Cuban strategic partnership in the political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres were discussed.

On November 17, at the 19th meeting of the Russian-Cuban Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, the parties agreed to work together in the field of higher education.
