February 28 – BLiTZ. German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced the need for an urgent rearmament of the army and an increase in spending on the needs of the Bundeswehr, writes InoRussia.
At present, the Bundeswehr is not ready to carry out its functions, Pistorius said, speaking at an event of the SPD party. According to him, NATO is extremely concerned about the Ukrainian crisis, but under the current conditions, the German army is simply not able to protect its own borders, not to mention obligations to the Alliance.
Economic sanctions alone are not enough to contain Russia, Pistorius stated, urging the government to urgently allocate money for the defense sector.
