PM Narendra Modi launched 6G test bed

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new Area Office and Innovation Center of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) at Vigyan Bhavan today i.e. on 22 March. This is ITU’s first area office and innovation center in the country. During the event, the Prime Minister spoke about the India 6G Vision Document and launched the 6G R&D Test Bed.

Technology Innovation Group has prepared the India 6G Vision Document 6G (TIG-6G), to be formed in November 2021 and developed the roadmap with members from various ministries/departments, research and development institutes, academia, standardization bodies, telecom service providers and industry It was done to do and plan for 6G.

The 6G test bed will provide a platform to the industry, start-ups, MSMEs etc. to test and verify the growing ITC technology. The India 6G Vision Document and 6G Test Bed will provide a conducive environment for rapid uptake and adoption of innovation and technology in the country.

When will 6G be launched?

Recently 5G was launched in the country. However, it may take years for the commercial rollout of 6G in the country. At present, technology is working on 5G in many places around the world. India has also rolled out its 5G services by the end of 2022, and telcos are leaving no stone unturned to ensure that.
