Pro-Khalistan hardline preacher Amritpal Singh’s uncle and driver surrendered before the police in Jalandhar, while the hunt for Singh is still on. The police gave this information on Monday.
Amritpal’s uncle Harjit Singh and driver Harpreet Singh surrendered near a gurdwara in Jalandhar’s Mehatpur area late on Sunday night, Jalandhar Senior Superintendent of Police (Rural) Swarnadeep Singh said. The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) said that the search for Singh is still on.
The state police has so far arrested 112 supporters of Amritpal. On Sunday, the police carried out a ‘flag march’ and carried out a search operation across the state in search of Amritpal.
The Punjab government has launched a major crackdown against Amritpal and his organization ‘Waris Punjab De’. Police has arrested 78 members of the organization. Singh had fled after his convoy was intercepted in Jalandhar district.
