Professor Stephen Mark Shore’s book publishes in Bangla

Autism expert and Shuchona Foundation Chair Saima Wazed Hossain announced the publication of “Pracheer Periye,” the Bangla translation of Professor Stephen Mark Shore’s book “Beyond the Wall “.

She made the announcement in a video posted by the Shuchona Foundation on its Facebook page marking the World Autism Awareness Day 2021 on April 2.

“Today we, on behalf of the Shuchona Foundation, have published a new book on the occasion of World Autism Awareness Day. It’s a translation of Dr Stephen Shore’s autobiography,” she said in the video.

Saima added: “I hope you all will read it to know how Professor Shore has reached this position as an autistic person.”

Prof Shore said it is his great pleasure and honor when he learnt that Shuchona Foundation wished to translate his autobiography into Bangla. “I am very much glad to translators Saima Hossain and others in Bangladesh,” he said in the video message.

Saima Wazed Hossain is the Chairperson of the Bangladesh National Advisory Committee on Autism and Neurodevelopmental Disorders and an adviser to the director general of World Health Organization (WHO).

She is a granddaughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and daughter of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
“Beyond The Wall is an autobiographical account that gives a rare, detailed and warm insight into the life of someone with Asperger Syndrome,” a brief description of the book posted in amazon.com read.

Shore relates his personal and professional experiences in a simple and open manner, creating an informative, user-friendly text that sheds new light on the trials and tribulations of those with Asperger Syndrome.

Shore does not only give his personal view within this book, but also gives family events and background, whilst connecting his own experiences to recent research, making it of equal interest to both individuals and professionals.

Dr. Stephen Shore is a professor at Adelphi University where his research focuses on matching best practice to the needs of people with autism.

In addition to working with children and talking about life on the autism spectrum, Stephen is internationally renowned for presentations, consultations and writings on lifespan issues pertinent to education, relationships, employment, advocacy, and disclosure. His most recent book ‘College for Students with Disabilities’ combines personal stories and research for promoting success in higher education.
