Rahul Gandhi convicted in defamation case, sentenced to two years, got bail

Surat Court today convicted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in a defamation case filed in 2019. This matter is related to the comment made regarding the Modi surname. Rahul Gandhi has been sentenced to two years in this case. Meanwhile, he had filed a bail application in Surat court. He got bail. This decision has threatened his position as an MP.

BJP MLA filed a case

BJP MLA and former Gujarat minister Purnesh Modi filed a defamation case against Rahul Gandhi. He had alleged that Rahul had hurt the dignity of the entire Modi community with his remarks. Wayanad Lok Sabha member Rahul Gandhi made comments about the matter at a public meeting held in Kolar, Karnataka ahead of the 2019 general elections.
