Srinagar, May 10 (Hindustan). Rifleman Aurangzeb, who was posthumously awarded the Shaurya Chakra by President Draupadi Murmu, the Supreme Commander of the Indian Armed Forces, eliminated three terrorists along with his team in an operation. He was involved in several anti-terrorist operations.
President Draupadi Murmu on Tuesday awarded the Shaurya Chakra posthumously to Rifleman Aurangzab of the 44th Battalion Rashtriya Rifles of the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry. During an operation in Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir, he evacuated an injured soldier and eliminated three terrorists along with his team. He was involved in several anti-terrorist operations.
After this, Rifleman Aurangzeb was abducted by terrorists on June 14, 2018 and was later shot dead. The terrorists carried out the incident when he was on his way to his village Poonch in a private vehicle from Shadipora in Shopian district to attend a family function. Rifleman Aurangzeb was the target of the terrorists as he had been a part of most of the anti-terrorist operations being carried out in the valley.
