Russian State Duma will submit a bill on free legal assistance to members of the SVO and their families

The draft law on free legal assistance to military personnel of the Northern Military District, including volunteers and mobilized, as well as members of their families, will be submitted to the State Duma on February 27. Among the authors of the initiative is Andrei Turchak, Secretary of the General Council of United Russia, Izvestia was told in the party.

The initiative involves amending article 20 of the federal law “On Free Legal Aid in the Russian Federation”.

Thus, the participants of the special operation and their relatives will be able to consult free of charge on issues of allowances, payments for injuries, providing credit holidays or assistance in maintaining a business. Moreover, free assistance is proposed to be extended to legal relations that have arisen since February 24, 2022.

“Finishing the status of a volunteer, receiving monetary allowance and payments in connection with the injury, as well as providing credit holidays, assistance in maintaining business management for the mobilized — these issues can be clarified during a free legal consultation,” the co-author of the bill told Izvestia , First Deputy Head of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Building Irina Rukavishnikova.

According to the explanatory note to the document (available to Izvestia), the participants of the SVO often face problems, the solution of which requires legal support. Now the poor, the disabled, veterans, pensioners, orphans, adoptive parents and guardians, the incapacitated and a number of other citizens can count on the free assistance of lawyers.
