Seam: Despite being important from the point of view of income in Varanasi division, the railway administration has finally taken care of Siwan Junction, which was neglected for years. Siwan railway station of Varanasi division has also been selected under Amrit Bharat station scheme. State-of-the-art passenger facilities will be provided to the passengers by redeveloping the Siwan Jn railway station. All the 15 stations of Varanasi division selected under the Amrit Bharat Yojana will be developed in the nature of the station incorporating the art and culture of the city. Along with this, desired improvements will also be made in parking, approach, lighting and signage. Varanasi Division’s Public Relations Officer Ashok Kumar said that Siwan Junction railway station will be redeveloped and made state-of-the-art under the Amrit Bharat Yojana at a cost of Rs 32.13 crore.

He informed that at a cost of Rs 2.54 crore, the circulating area of Siwan railway station, approach road, water drainage and pedestrian walkway will be constructed. At a cost of Rs 5.62 crore, the exterior of the station building will be improved and a porch will be constructed. Heightening of platform, extension of shed on platform, improvement of surface will also be done at a cost of Rs 14.30 crore. The second entrance of Siwan Junction station will be constructed at a cost of Rs 43 lakh. Other improvement and beautification works will be done at the station at a cost of Rs 10 lakh. A new foot overbridge will be constructed at a cost of 3.28 crores. Renovation work of booking office with unreserved and reserved ticket counters will be done at a cost of 60 lakhs.

Cafeteria will be constructed at Siwan Jn station at a cost of Rs 46 lakh. Train display board, digital clock, auto announcement and upgradation of unreserved and reserved ticket counters, public address system will be improved at a cost of Rs 97 lakh. Arrangement of lift, facade lighting, high mast, signages, lighting/fans and LT panels will be made at the station at a cost of 2.90 crores. He informed that tenders have been invited for all works related to state-of-the-art passenger facilities at Siwan Junction railway station. After the disposal of tenders, the works will be completed with full quality within the target period. After the completion of the plans made for the overall development of Siwan Junction railway station, the passengers will have a pleasant feeling of coming to the big station.
