Surat: Rs 16.76 crore recovered from ticketless passengers in April

Western Railway is running a ticket checking campaign. Under which, in the action taken in the month of April, an amount of Rs 16.76 crore was recovered from the stations from Mumbai to Kosad, including an amount of Rs 4.71 crore from the ticketless passengers of Mumbai Suburban Division.

As per the information received by Western Railway, 2.46 lakh ticketless passengers and irregular passengers were detected from whom Rs 16.76 crore was recovered. This also includes cases of unbooked baggage.

Checking to prevent unauthorized entry in AC local trains

In addition, in the month of April, Western Railway recovered Rs 4.71 crore in fine after 83,522 cases were found on the Mumbai suburban section. Regular surprise ticket checking operations are carried out to prevent unauthorized entry into air-conditioned local trains.

6300 unauthorized passengers were fined

As a result of this campaign, in April-2023, more than 6300 unauthorized passengers were fined and Rs 21.34 lakh fine was recovered from them, which is 238.19 percent more than the previous year.
