Tarique Rahman was getting monthly donation from Transnational pimp Salim Prodhan

Exclusive Report

During the years 2001-2006, immediately after Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) had formed the government, transnational pimp Salim Prodhan was busy supplying girls from various countries to Tarique Rahman and his “partner” Giasuddin Mamun. It may be mentioned here that Tarique and Mamun are bisexual and it is known in Bangladesh society that they are homosexual couples. According to a source, Salim Prodhan started sending 20 million takas every month to Tarique Rahman in London, while another source said, Tarique and Mamum actually are shareholders in Salim’s business enterprises. It is also learnt that Prodhan Group’s spa and massage center in Dhaka was originally established in Dhaka with major financial contributions from Tarique Rahman and Giasuddin Mamun.

Meanwhile, vernacular daily Jugantor, quoting Rapid Action Battalion claims that Salim has told the interrogators that he was smuggling out 2.45 billion takas each year to various countries.

The vernacular daily also claims that Salim’s other business partner is a North Korean national.

Meanwhile, a Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) team on October 1 raided two offices of online casino businessman Salim Prodhan and seized Tk. 2.9 million in cash, currencies of 23 countries worth over Tk. 7.7 million, 32 cheques of 23 banks worth Tk. 80 million, 48 bottles of illegal foreign liquor, four laptops and two deer skins.

Three cases will be filed against Salim on charges of money laundering, keeping narcotics and illegally possessing deer skins, said the RAB. On Monday, the RAB detained Salim, the mastermind behind online gambling in Bangladesh, who tried to flee to Thailand on Thai Airways flight (TG-322), which was scheduled to leave Dhaka at 1:30 pm. Salim owns P24 Gaming Company Ltd, an online casino operation established in December 7, 2018.

Following Salim’s confessional statement, the RAB team conducted a drive at the P24 Gaming office at the Momtaz Vision building on Road no. 99 in Gulshan-2.The elite force members detained Akhteruzzaman, chief personal assistant of Salim, while conducting the 10-hour raid, which ended at 6 am on October 1, 2019 at Salim’s Gulshan office, said RAB director (legal and media  wing) Lt Col Sarwar Bin Kashem.

The RAB official also said Salim admitted that he had close ties with Giasuddin Al Mamun, a friend and business partner of BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman. “Salim gifted Mamun an expensive car,” he added.

Earlier, Salim served a six-month jail sentence by a mobile court under the Bangladesh Wildlife Preservation Act. “P24 Gaming” is being run under Prodhan Group, which is a business conglomerate founded by Salim Prodhan in 2006.

Prodhan Group’s overseas office is located at Si Racha of Chon Buri in Thailand. Salim, 38, who is also chairman of the Japan Bangladesh Group, was awarded CIP status by the Bangladesh government.

According to Salim’s company website, he owns businesses, including chain restaurants, department stores, in the US and Japan. He is also involved in machinery exports/imports and runs IT sector and telecom operations. As stated in another website, Salim’s security printing and papers firm have made a remarkable contribution to the growth of the national economy by ‘replacing imported security printed documents with its own products’.

Is Tarique-Mamun also in pimping business with Salim?

As it is confirmed from a number of sources that Salim Prodhan has been involved into the transnational pimping profession for many years, it a billion-dollar question as to whether Tarique Rahman and his “partner” Giasuddin Mamun too are part of this nefarious trade.
