“Our department has been thinking for a long time that the likely source of the pandemic was a probable laboratory emergency in Wuhan,” he said, adding that this was a “possible leak from a laboratory controlled by the Chinese authorities.”

At the same time, Christopher Ray argued that the Chinese government, in his opinion, is “doing everything possible to hinder” the efforts of the States and their partners to establish the circumstances preceding the start of the pandemic.
