The evil nexus of Zakir Naik and Jamaat-e-Islami

A stealth jihadist global network, which utilized Islamic charities to aid in the spread of jihadist views has been exposed. According to media reports, Indian radical Muslim preacher Zakir Naik, who is currently in Malaysia on self-exile and Pakistan’s Jamaat-e-Islami party has formed a nexus with the agenda of spreading jihadism in a number of Asian nations including Bangladesh, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Myanmar and Sri Lanka. Years back, Zakir Naik, a defender of Al Qaeda and a great fan of Osama Bin Laden was first exposed by me through several investigative reports, which were published in Blitz.

Agenda of Zakir Naik and Jamaat-e-Islami is to portray Muslims as victims of “anti-Islamic” powers and invite every Muslim in engaging in jihad. The stealth jihad network expands in the West by crushing Western discussion of the jihad threat Islam, using the same “Islamophobia” victimology subterfuge that it employs against India. Stealth jihadis manipulate Western guilt about colonialism, knowing full well that Westerners are largely ignorant regarding Islam’s 1400 years of conquest, which began long before colonialism.

Jihad-enabling Islamic charities such as Muslim Aid present themselves as innocent victims and do-gooders. They shield their objectives in a manner that is a similar manner to the tactics of organized crime groups that use front organizations. One need only look at the exhaustive list of unindicted co-conspirators in the Holy Land Foundation Hamas terror funding case. These Muslim lobbies are almost invariably tied to what appears to be charitable works.

According to Christine Douglass-Williams, a counterterrorism expert, “Radical Islamism makes use of international networks of support, and relies on infrastructure closely intertwined with civil society. Today, western Islamist charities, funded by western governments and linked to international Islamist movements such as Jamaat-e-Islami, operate throughout India.

“These charities have long histories of subsidizing terrorism and enabling extremism. One of the most egregious examples is Muslim Aid…. Founded in London in 1985, Muslim Aid has grown into one of the largest Islamic charities in the world, boasting revenue of tens of millions of pounds each year. Outside of its headquarters in the UK, it operates branches, offices and various affiliate entities in a dozen countries across Africa and Asia, with prominent fundraising offices in Sweden and the United States as well.

Stealth jihadists routinely court politicians who are looking for the Muslim vote. They been quite successful”.

Internationally acclaimed counter-jihadist experts Sam Westrop in an investigative article has exposed the newer nexus of Zakir Naik and Jamaat-e-Islami. He wrote, “Indian security services, politicians and media have recently paid particularly close attention to the danger of Jamaat-e-Islami in Pakistan and Kashmir, and their branches and proxies’ links to terrorist plots against Indian troops and civilians.

“But radical Islamism makes use of international networks of support, and relies on infrastructure closely intertwined with civil society. Today, western Islamist charities, funded by western governments and linked to international Islamist movements such as Jamaat-e-Islami, operate throughout India.

What is Muslim Aid?

Muslim Aid, founded in London in 1985 has grown into one of the largest Islamic charities in the world, boasting revenue of tens of millions of pounds each year. In addition to its headquarters in the United Kingdom, Muslim Aid operates branches, offices and various affiliate entities in a dozen countries across Africa and Asia, with prominent fundraising offices in Sweden and the United States. Most of the officials of Muslim Aid are ties closely to Jamaat-e-Islami. Chowdhury Mueen Uddin, one of the leaders of this organization was sentenced to death in 2013 for his role leading to a Jamaat-e-Islami’s killing squad that abducted and murdered 18 people during the war of independence of Bangladesh in 1971.

Muslim Aid board has included Manazir Ahsan, a leading British Islamist who helped to coordinate Islamist riots in the UK against novelist Salman Rushdie over his book, The Satanic Verses; and Iqbal Sacranie, another infamous British Islamist who said of Rushdie: “Death, perhaps, is a bit too easy for him.”

Other Muslim Aid officials have included Manzair Ahsan, who is also closely involved with the Islamic Foundation, Jamaat-e-Islami’s UK-based thinktank. His colleagues there have included former Muslim Aid official Farooq Murad, the son of Khurram Murad, who has led both the Bangladeshi and Pakistani branches of Jamaat-e-Islami. In 2003, The Times reported that two Islamic Foundation trustees were on the UN sanctions list of people associated with the Taliban and Al-Qaeda.

According to investigative reports in the British media, Muslim Aid has been funding a number of Islamic terror outfits such as Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad. Counter-terrorism analyst Chris Blackburn notes that Muslim Aid’s Australian branch has supported jihadist-funding organizations in Indonesia; government agencies in Bangladesh included Muslim Aid in a list of ten Islamic charities supporting Islamist terrorism, and Spanish police have declared that Muslim Aid financed jihadists in Bosnia in the 1990s.

In the United States, documents acquired by the Middle East Forum show that in 2015, the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Asset Control (which is tasked with stopping the flow of monies to terrorist groups) looked into Muslim Aid as a potential terror financer.

In Pakistan, both the UK and Pakistani branches of Muslim Aid partner openly with Al Khidmat, the “charitable” arm of Jamaat-e-Islami’s Pakistani arm. Al Khidmat publicly works with Hizbul Mujahideen, the Kashmiri militant wing of Jamaat-e-Islami and a designated terrorist group in both India and the United States. In 2009, Muslim Aid branch in Pakistan had appointed a senior official of Inter Service Intelligence as chairman of its board of trustees.

Muslim Aid infrastructure has been regularly used by jihadists for raising funds for terror attacks including suicide bombings. There are also allegations of connections between Muslim Aid and Pakistani espionage agency Inter Service Intelligence as well as a number of jihad-patron nations including Qatar and Turkey. For the past few years, Turkish dictator Recep Tayyip Erdogan has been showing a huge interest in Muslim Aid as he is considering it as an effective vessel of spreading his notorious agenda of establishing caliphate throughout the world.

Muslim Aid leader Jafer Hussain Qureshi has been helping for years to manage the affairs of the terror-connected international Islamist operative Zakir Naik. A company named Universal Broadcasting Corporation, registered in Qureshi’s address in Birmingham serves as the umbrella organization for Zakir Naik’s Peace TV media outlets and various companies. There also are allegations of Zakir Naik’s connections with Pakistan’s Inter Service Intelligence, which has been using his Peace TV in demonizing Hindus as well as spreading radical Islam in India.
